I couldn’t be happier with the tree. I haven’t had a real one since the late ’90s after our dog, Lady, destroyed the bottom two thirds of that one during a fit of separation anxiety. (The tree itself was fine, but she had taken off all the ornaments — apparently, one by one — and smashed them on the floor. You can’t imagine the mess we found when we came home, but, amazingly, Lady didn’t have a cut on her.)

Anyway, this is a Canaan Fir that we cut at Timbuk; it’s perfectly shaped and about eight and a half feet tall. I also found the most awesome cards at the Kussmaul Gallery the other day. For the first time in a couple of years, I’m really getting into the holidays again!

I found also that having a number for each room in the new house and then labeling each box with said number (printed huge on 1/4 sheet of paper) really helped me keep things organized not just after we got here but also during the process of packing because sometimes I would pack things I needed.
